Message Comparing two tires of the same width, one with a larger aspect ratio (and thus sidewall) than the other, the one with the larger sidewall will have more rubber on the ground from front to back because as the tire deforms to the flat road surface, the taller tire can deform more (because of the larger circumference, a longer stretch of tire will contact the road).

If you don't believe me, look at a drag car as it launches... it's an extreme example of the tire flattening to the road under the launch. Drag tires are tall to emphasize this benefit. On a road car, it won't be much, but it's there. (And I'd rather choose a wider tire than try to get that tiny benefit on a road car from a taller tire.)
